If a parent has a safeguarding concern relating to their child they should contact their child’s Tutor, Year Team and the college Safeguarding Team.
Where safeguarding concerns are held about a member of staff please contact the College Principal Matthew Thompson - mthompson@launcestoncollege.uk in the first instance. For information our school Safeguarding Governor is Hollie Thomas – hthomas@athenalearningtrust.uk and Cornwall Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) number is – 01872 327225.
All staff are trained to use a Safeguarding software system called CPOMS to report any safeguarding concerns. All concerns are viewed by our Safeguarding Team throughout the day, with decisions made on appropriate action and support as necessary. If there are serious and immediate threats to the welfare of a student contact and referrals to the Multi Agency Referral Unit (Cornwall) or Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (Devon) will be made.
Operation EnCompass
Launceston College is an Operation Encompass school. This is a Police early intervention partnership supporting children exposed to domestic incidents and abuse. The Police will contact college before the next school day to share details of any incident that takes place, enabling targeted support to be given to that young person and their family. If you would like to know more about Operation Encompass please visit www.operationencompass.org.
We have a duty of care and responsibility to share any concerns with external agencies including Children’s Early Help Hub, Children’s Social Care Services, Multi Agency Referral Unit (MARU) and Devon Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
